US fight back to lead Presidents Cup match on day one

5:59 am on 18 November 2011

The Internationals suffered from the jitters late on the first day of the Presidents Cup golf match against the United States and surrendered the lead after dominating much of the opening day foursomes.

Having led in five of the six matches, the International team trailed 4-2 at the end of the day despite a 7 and 6 hammering for the US team's senior pairing Tiger Woods and Steve Stricker at the hands of Adam Scott and KJ Choi.

The US captain Fred Couples has split Woods and Stricker for today's six four-ball matches.
