Roulston pulls out of NZ track squad for London Games

The New Zealand road cycling champion Hayden Roulston has given up on his bid to compete at the London Olympics saying he's been forced to withdraw over a lack of flexibility in the selection policy.

Roulston recently signed a contract with the Radioshack Nissan Trek team to continue his pro tour career in Europe, but the deal allowed him to compete for the New Zealand track squad.

However Roulston says BikeNZ want him to be available for more buildup events and have told him if he's not available prior to February's London World Cup meet then he wouldn't be selected for the five strong Olympic team.

Roulston, who won a silver medal in the individual pursuit and bronze in the team pursuit at the Beijing Olympics says his past efforts seem to count for little.
