The New Zealand tennis players Michael Venus and Sacha Jones have fallen at the last hurdle at their respective tournaments in Australia.
Playing at the Futures event in La Trobe, Victoria, Venus, the tournament's eighth seed, was defeated in the final by top seeded local Ben Mitchell 7-6 6-7 6-0.
In the women's Challenger final at Traralgon, Victoria, the fourth seeded Jones fell to old Australian rival and top seed Casey Dellacqua 7-6 7-6.
Both men's and women's tournaments now move to Bendigo for events this week.
