Black Caps opener doing homework on teen paceman

The New Zealand opening batsman Martin Guptill says the Black Caps will be getting some video footage of Australia's young fast bowler Pat Cummins over the next week as they prepare for the first Test in Brisbane on Thursday week.

The 18-year-old from New South Wales took six for 79 on debut in the second test South Africa and is capable of bowling at close to 150 kilometres an hour.

Guptill agrees Cummins certainly looks pacy, and the Black Caps need to do some homework on him as well spending time in front of a bowling machine.

Captain Ross Taylor told reporters it was too bad Sky Television didn't screen the just-completed Test series in South Africa - a criticism repeated by several media pundits, as well as many cricket fans in online forums.

The Black Caps start a four-day warmup match against Australia A in Brisbane on Thursday, and the first Test starts at the Gabba Thursday week.
