Windies dominated day one in Mumbai

6:20 am on 23 November 2011

The West Indies cricketers are in a strong position after the opening day of the third and final test against India in Mumbai.

The tourists made the most of winning the toss on a good batting pitch to reach 267 for 2 at stumps with Kirk Edwards and Dwayne Bravo scoring unbeaten half centuries.

Teenage opener Kraigg Braithwaite made 68 and his partner Adrian Barath 62.

The day started badly for the West Indies when their best batsman Shivnarine Chanderpaul was ruled out of the match with a calf muscle injury.

India lead the series 2-nil.
