The New Zealand track cyclist Allison Shanks produced a world class ride last night to win the individual pursuit at the Oceania championships in Invercargill.
Shanks shattered the NZ residents record, taking more than a second off her previous best time, and beating her 2009 world championship-winning time.

Shanks coach Craig Palmer says the time would put her into the top six riders of all time.
The men's event was won by Jesse Sergent who also set a national record.
Natasha Hansen won the womens keirin, making it three titles from three events.
