The Brisbane Roar have claimed a piece of Australian sporting history by thrashing Perth Glory 4-0 at home, taking their unbeaten streak to 36 matches and breaking the national club record held for 74 years by rugby league's Eastern Suburbs.
Brisbane highlighted the gulf in class between them and their chasing rivals by delivering a footballing lesson to the Glory at Suncorp Stadium, the A-League champions at their ruthless and clinical best in front of a season-high home crowd of 19,339.
It was the Roar's 23rd win in their streak and was only behind their 7-1 round-four carve-up of Adelaide as their best this season.
Brisbane led 4-0 at half-time.
The Central Coast Mariners won 3-1 over visitors Melbourne Heart to stay second, six points behind the Roar.
The Wellington Phoenix play third-placed Sydney FC on Sunday afternoon in the capital, and Melbourne Victory host Gold Coast.
