Two more top 20 players have been added to the lineup for January's ASB Tennis Classic, which organisers say will have one of the Auckland tournament's best fields.
Two-time Grand Slam champion Svetlana Kuznetsova and former world number 10 Flavia Pennetta, ranked 19th and 20th respectively, return to join the already anounced top 20 players, China's Peng Shuai, and Germany's Sabine Lisicki, who're 15th and 17th.
The full field has the eight top seeds ranked among the best 30 players in the world, and includes the unseeded former world number one and seven-time Grand Slam winner Venus Williams.
Also returning are defending champion Greta Arn of Hungary, 2009 champion Yanina Wickmayer from Belgium and Germany's Julia Goerges.
Tournament director Richard Palmer says while Venus Williams's current ranking means she requires a wild card that's not a true indication of her real worth in the field..
