Pakistani allrounder to play for Canterbury

The former Pakistan allrounder Yasir Arafat will play for Canterbury in cricket's Twenty20 competition this summer.

Arafat joins two other signings but unlike Brendon Diamanti and Mitchell Claydon he'll be available only for the HRV Cup.

Although he's scored five first-class centruries his seam and swing bowling is his biggest asset and he's the fourth highest wicket taker in the shortest form of the game with 122 at an average of just under 23.

Arafat's been playing for Surrey in England and Canterbury coach Bob Carter says he's an explosive player whose all round skills will be very valuable.
