Wiliams co-founder calls it quits

The co-founder of the Williams motor racing team Patrick Head has called time on his active involvement in the formula one team after their worst season in the sport.

65 year old Head says he won't be directly involved in the Williams Formula One programme next year, though he won't be retiring completely.

The former world champions ended the season in Brazil yesterday ninth overall in the constructors' standings, their lowest position since 1978.

Head, who designed a series of world-beating cars, said he would focus on work for Williams Hybrid Power, which deals with flywheel technology for broader commercial use in buses and trains.
