Johnson vows to resume test career

The beleaguered Australian fast bowler Mitchell Johnson has vowed to overcome his injury-ruined summer and return to international cricket.

The left arm Queensland bowler is set to be sidelined for five months after a specialist indicated he needed an operation on a damaged big toe, and he's expected to have the operation during the first test at the Gabba which starts today.

Johnson says he's aware of opinions suggesting his test career is over due to form, but he's emphatic that neither form nor fitness will prevent his return to international cricket.

The Australian captain Michael Clarke is tipping Johnson to return to top cricket better than ever, believing the injury break could help the Queenslander overcome his mental demons.
