Otago cyclist Alison Shanks has won the individual pursuit gold medal at the UCI World Cup in Colombia, beating Great Britain's Wendy Houvenaghel with another world class performance.
Shanks slashed her own previous best at the Oceania Championships last week and recorded another three minute 28 second ride at the velodrome in Cali to pip Houvenaghel, who's part of the world team pursuit champion trio.
Shanks won in a time of three minutes 28.994 seconds.
