The longest running streak in top-level Australian sport ended yesterday when Sydney FC ended Brisbane Roar's 36-match unbeaten run in the A-league with a 2-nil win in Sydney.
Brisbane were stunned by a goal in the opening minute, and Sydney scored their second after 20 minutes.
The result ended the Roar's run just a week after they had eclipsed the previous Australian sporting record of 35 matches set by Eastern Suburbs rugby league club in the 1930s.
