The New Zealand road cyclist Julian Dean will be off his bike for a week or so after a training crash in Australia.

Dean has been with his new Australian team GreenEDGE at their training camp in Thredbo where he suffered a fractured shoulder blade at the weekend.

A team spokesman said the seven-time Tour de France veteran would have to stay off his road bike for up to a fortnight, but was keen to return sooner and he won't need surgery.
