Nadal won't play Davis Cup next year

6:01 am on 6 December 2011

A day after clinching the Davis Cup for Spain, the world tennis number two Rafael Nadal has said he won't be available to play for his country next year.

25-year-old Nadal has repeatedly complained about what he regards as an overloaded ATP World Tour calendar, and he says the added burden of competing at next year's Londoln Olympics meant Davis Cup participation was impossible.

Nadal has won 20 of his 21 Davis Cup singles rubbers.

And Spain's captain Albert Costa says he would take a week off to think about his future.
