IOC veteran says ill health forced resignation

The former FIFA head Joao Havelange says age and ill health forced his resignation as a member of the International Olympic Committee.

The 95-year-old Brazilian, an IOC member for 48 years, has resigned just days before an ethics committee hearing into his conduct.

He'd been at the centre of an IOC investigation for his alleged links to FIFA's former marketing agency, ISL, amid allegations of corruption.

The investigation has now been shelved.
