Sri Lankas cricketers back on the payroll

Sri Lanka's top cricketers have had some good news since their arrival in South Africa for an eight-match tour - they're about to be paid for the first time since April.

Sri Lanka's Sports Minister has said contracted players will receive 65 percent of their unpaid fees within the next three days when their ruling body receives $2.5 million from the International Cricket Council for hosting the 2011 World Cup.

Sri Lanka Cricket has been broke since financing the building of three new stadiums for the last World Cup, and the ruling body has been unable to pay its cricketers or 200 other employees.

For the past two years the sport has been run by government-appointed interim committees.
