Feeney gets the nod as Auckland assistant

Paul Feeney will team up with head coach Wayne Pivac as the assistant coach of the Auckland provincial rugby team for the next two seasons.

Feeney heads to Auckland from Bay of Plenty where he has been defence and assistant coach for their past two ITM Cup campaigns.

The former North Harbour representative player has worked as a professional coach for the past 10 years including senior club, provincial and national sides as well as coaching abroad in Japan.

The 47 year-old's coaching career has also included head coach for Poverty Bay 2006-2008, where he won three successive Heartland Championship titles, and North Harbour Colts, as well as assistant coach at North Harbour.
