The Indian cricket opener Virender Sehwag hit a record one-day international score of 219 to help his side to a 153-run victory over the West Indies in the fourth ODI in Indore.

Sehwag's 219 came off 149 balls.

His team-mate Sachin Tendulkar, rested from this series, previously held the record after hitting an unbeaten 200 against South Africa last year.

India made 418 for five from their 50 overs - the joint fourth highest total in one-day international history.

The Windies were dismissed for 265 in the last over.

India lead the five-match series 3-1.
