Sigmund header sees Nix home in Wellington

An 86th minute header from All Whites defender Ben Sigmund has handed his Wellington Phoenix a 1-0 victory over visitors Perth Glory in their A-League football match in the capital.

Sigmund doesn't score many goals but they tend to be matchwinners and that was the case in a scrappy game at Westpac Stadium.

The Yellow Fever won't care however - the win lifts their side to seventh on the table, a point behind Perth.

Tony Lochhead pulled up lame and left the field after Sigmund's goal with what looked like a worrying injury for Phoenix coach Ricki Herbert - the defender's spent plenty of time on the sidelines with a troublesome groin in the past couple of years.

The Nix's disciplinary troubles continue with a late red card to Mirjan Pavlovic.
