South Africa have thrashed Sri Lanka by an innings and 81 runs, on the third day of the first cricket Test at Centurion.

Sri Lanka were 150 all out in their second innings as South African rookie seam bowler Vernon Philander finished with a 10-wicket haul.

Philander took five wickets before tea as Sri Lanka finished 81 runs short of making the hosts bat again.

Sri Lanka, facing a 231-run deficit after South Africa were dismissed earlier in the day for 411, were bowled out in just over 39 overs with Philander returning figures of five for 49 and a match total of 10 for 102.

Bangladesh reached a respectable 234 for five against Pakistan before bad light ended the opening day's play of the second Test at Mirpur.
