The English golfer Ian Poulter is already turning his attention to next year's Ryder Cup just hours after winning the Australian Masters in Melbourne.

After starting the final round 11-under par and two behind the local hero Geoff Ogilvy, Poulter turned turned things to his advantage with an eagle on the first hole, before roaring to victory with a final round 67 to finish 15 under for the tournament.

The win will move Poulter at least ten spots up the world rankings from his current position of 28th and the 35-year-old says the victory was crucial in the battle to qualify for Europe's Ryder Cup team.
