8:30 am on 19 December 2011

A late goal helped the New Zealand under-18 women's hockey side maintain its unbeaten record against Australia with a 1-all draw in Canberra.

The Australians were ahead 1-nil at half-time before a tactical decision by New Zealand coach Jason Butcher to replace the goalkeeper with another field player delivered results.

With just two minutes left on the clock, Wairarapa's Jenna Anderson slotted the equaliser.

New Zealand won the first test, but were pushed much harder in game two and were ultimately lucky to walk away with a draw.

Meanwhile the New Zealand under-18 men's team were crushed 6-1 by their Australian counterparts in their second test also in Canberra.

The final games of the three test series will both be played in Canberra today.
