Siddle takes the wicket of Tendulkar

5:47 am on 28 December 2011

Australia's Peter Siddle was the man who killed Bambi as he bowled Sachin Tendulkar for 73 late on day two of the first cricket Test at the MCG.

In reply to the home side's 333, India reached 214 for 3 at stumps.

Rahul Dravid is 68 not out with nightwatchman Ishant Sharma yet to score.

Tendulkar and fellow 38-year-old Dravid added 117 for the third wicket before Siddle struck in the final over of the day, blasting through Tendulkar's defences.

A crowd of almost 53 thousand had been waiting to see Tendulkar make history as the first player to score 100 international hundreds, having already made 51 in Tests and 48 in one-day internationals.

India's formidable batting lineup has lost only three wickets and Australia are facing the prospect of a heavy first-innings deficit.
