Graham Henry knighted

The former All Blacks coach Graham Henry has been knighted in the New Year's Honours list.

Henry's eight year tenure in charge of the national side culminated with victory in the Rugby World Cup final in October.

Motor racing enthusiast Colin Giltrap has also been knighted for his services to the motor industry.

The chief executive of the Rugby World Cup organising committee, Martin Sneddon has been made a Companion of the New Zealand Order of Merit.

Others to be honoured include former All Black Ian MacRae, former secretary general of the New Zealand Olympic Committee Barry Maister and his brother Selwyn, cricket umpire Brian Aldridge, harness racing driver Tony Herlihy and boxing coach Chris Kenny.
