NZ Archers opt out of Oceania Olympic qualifying event

An Australian archery team has dominated the Oceania Olympic qualifying tournament in Masterton with no New Zealanders competing, despite hosting the event.

The Australians qualified representatives for the London Games in both the individual men's and women's events.

Even if a New Zealand archer had competed and won, Archery New Zealand says it wouldn't have earnt them a place in the Games team, as the New Zealand Olympic Committee selection criteria states competitors must be ranked in the 16 in the world, which no New Zealand re-curve archer is.
