The Black Caps opener Martin Guptill smashed his way to his first Twenty/20 century to lift Auckland to the top of domestic cricket's Twenty/20 competition.
Guptill blasted 120 not out off just 60 balls as the Aces chased down Canterbury's 183-9 in Rangiora off the final delivery.
The 120 was the highest ever score in domestic Twenty20 cricket in New Zealand, surpassing Ross Taylor's previous record of 111 (no).
The Aces - the HRV Cup defending champions - join Central Districts at the top of the table on 12 points, two clear of the Wizards and the Otago Volts.
