Scottish tennis ace Andy Murray has beaten Australian hope Bernard Tomic at the Brisbane International, bringing the Gold Coast teenager's charge to an abrupt halt with a commanding semi-final victory on Pat Rafter Arena.

Tomic battled hard in his maiden ATP semi-final on Saturday afternoon but was no match for the world No.4, falling 6-3 6-2 in 70 minutes.

Murray will now play world No.15 Alexandr Dolgopolov in Sunday's final after the Ukranian overcame a groin problem to defeat French second seed Gilles Simon 6-3 6-4.
