Veteran triathletes Cameron Brown and Joanne Lawn have won the men's and women's races respectively at the Port of Tauranga Half at Mount Maunganui.

Brown has claimed his ninth victory at the event with the 39-year-old holding off the challenge of defending champion Callum Millward.

Australia's Tim Berkel was third.

Lawn has won the women's title for a historic fourth time.

Fellow Aucklander Hannah Lawerence finished second to the 38-year-old, with Dunedin's Tamsyn Hayes third.

The event has doubled as the Triathlon New Zealand long distance championships.
