Motor rallying's world championship in jeopardy

3:11 pm on 10 January 2012

Motor racing's governing body is in urgent talks to secure the future of rallying's world championship after cancelling its contract with key promoters North One Sport just 10 days before the Monte Carlo season-opener.

The International Automobile Federation says North One Sport has "conspicuously failed" to deliver on obligations for 2012 and beyond and was in breach of contract.

North One is in administration and is yet to find a buyer.

The FIA says it will take urgent action to secure the staging of the championship and is confident it will be successful.
