Djokovic untroubled in start to Australian Open

The world number one tennis player Novak Djokovic has enjoyed a straightforward straight sets win to begin his Australian Open title defence.

Djokovic has defeated Italian qualifier Paolo Lorenzi 6-2 6-0 6-0.

The Serbian will next face Colombia's Santiago Giraldo, a second round loser at the Heineken Open last week.

Heineken winner and fifth seed Spain's David Ferrer has also advanced untroubled to the second round but French 17th seed, Richard Gasquet, has been taken to four sets before sealing victory.

Fourth seed Maria Sharapova has also been successful.
