The New Zealand tennis number one Marina Erakovic has been knocked out of the Australian Open after losing her second round match in a tough three sets to American Christina McHale.

Erakovic won the first set 6-3 before losing the second 6-7 in a hard-fought tiebreak.

Auckland based world number 62 then struggled to keep pace with her higher ranked opponent in the decisive set, eventually going down 6-3.
