Second-placed Waitakere United were beaten 1-0 by second from bottom Hawke's Bay in Napier.
Canterbury trounced bottom placed Manawatu 9-1 in Christchurch and Wellington beat Otago 2-1 in Dunedin.
Auckland have 19 points, Waitakere, Canterbury and Wellington have 15, Otago nine, Waikato and Hawke's Bay seven and Manawatu one.
