Camper rues decision to head inshore

The skipper of Team New Zealand's Volvo Round the World Ocean race entry Camper is determined to put a costly tactical error behind them.

After heading inshore towards the Malayasian coast in search of breeze, skipper Chris Nicholson and his crew found themselves becalmed and had to anchor to maintain their position and stop themselves going backwards.

The decision allowed Puma, Telefonica and Groupama who were further out to sea to gain more than 50 miles over Camper.

Nicholson says they're now enjoying better boatspeed than the leaders and slowly reducing the deficit.
