Referee change for Six Nations clash

6:36 am on 1 February 2012

Alain Rolland has been forced to withdraw as assistant referee for the Six Nations rugby match between Italy and England in Rome on February the 11th due to a calf muscle strain.

The Irishman, who refereed the Rugby World Cup 2007 Final and a semi-final at Rugby World Cup 2011, will be replaced by fellow countryman George Clancy.

The match will be refereed by Jerome Garces of France in what will be his Six Nations debut.

Rolland is expected to be fully fit in time to referee France's clash with England in Paris on March the 11th and Italy's match against Scotland in Rome on March the 17th.
