The New Zealand women's cricket team has scored its first victory over Australia this summer, winning the 4th Twenty20 match in Sydney.

With Australia already having an unassailable 3-nil lead in the five match series, the White Ferns managed to confine Australia to 92 for seven off a reduced 18 overs and then went onto reach the target with five balls to spare.

Kate Broadmore took 3 for 9 as she took the top off the Australian innings as they slumped to 50 for 3.

Captain Suzie Bates then carried her bat through the innings as she top scored with an unbeaten 40.

The teams play the final match of the series at the MCG tomorrow.
