NRL All Stars beat Indigenous All Stars

11:08 am on 5 February 2012

Kiwis captain Benji Marshall led his NRL All Stars to a 36-28 win over the Indigenous All Stars to claim the Arthur Beetson Trophy at Gold Coast.

Wayne Bennett's side outscored Laurie Daley's men by six tries to five in a high-paced match, despite the new season being a month away.

The Warriors wing Manu Vatuvei was among the tryscorers while Marshall kicked all six conversions.

The third annual clash was welcomed in by stirring Aboriginal and English versions of Advance Australia Fair, with the Indigenous side then marching up to their opponents as a part of a traditional war dance with spears.

An ankle injury to Greg Inglis cast a shadow over the match, with the Queensland and Australia centre limping out of the game 10 minutes from time. Inglis scored one of the Indigenous side's tries.
