The Wellington triathlete Kate McIlroy has won the Oceania Triathlon title at Kinloch, Lake Taupo.
It was an impressive effort from McIlroy in her first hit out of the season, running away from the Dutch pair of Rachel Klamer and Danne Boterenbrood with fellow New Zealander Debbie Tanner running home fourth.
Men's favourite Kris Gemmell was forced to retire with a mechanical problem with his bike with Australian Aaron Royle taking the honours... New Zealander Martin van Barneveld 5th.
