The New York Giants have won Superbowl 46, battling back to beat the New England Patriots 21-17 in the National Football League's championship game in Indianapolis.

The Patriots led 10-9 at half-time and 17-15 heading into the last quarter - and there was no further scoring until the final minute.

Then with 57 seconds remaining, the New England defence opened up and Ahmad Bradshaw ran six yards for the Giants' second and winning touchdown.

Giants quarterback Eli Manning was named Most Valuable Player.

The Giants, who also beat the Patriots in the championship game in 2008, became the first team to win a Super Bowl after finishing the regular season with a 9-7 record.

It was the fourth Super Bowl triumph for the Giants, who also captured the crown in 1987 and 1991.
