Scotland drop down world rugby rankings

6:05 am on 7 February 2012

Scotland have fallen out of the world's top ten rugby rankings following last weekend's Six Nations home loss to England.

That 13-6 defeat at Murrayfield dropped the Scots to 11th position with Samoa climbing to 10th in the latest edition of the International Rugby Board (IRB) rankings.

England stayed fifth but Wales moved up to two places to sixth after their last-gasp 23-21 win over Ireland in Dublin.

The Irish have fallen to eighth place.

World Cup finalists France, who cemented their status as Six Nations favourites by beating Italy at the weekend, stayed third behind world champions New Zealand and second-placed Australia.

South Africa remain fourth.
