Brownlie suffers fractured finger

6:31 am on 8 February 2012

X-rays have confirmed the Black Caps batsman Dean Brownlie has a fractured finger on his left hand following a fielding incident in Monday's one-day cricket international against Zimbabwe.

Brownlie sustained the fracture when after being struck by a ball while fielding in the match at Cobham Oval in Whangarei.

He's expected to miss the remainder of the Zimbabwe series including tomorrow's third and final one-dayer in Napier, however it's not yet known how long he will be out of action.

A clearer idea of the time-frame of Brownlie's recovery will be determined after he meets the orthopaedic surgeon today.

No one will be added to the remaining Black Caps squad of 13 at this stage.

A decision on whether to bring in a replacement will be made at a later date.
