The All Black halfback Piri Weepu will start at first five eight outside Alby Mathewson for the Blues in their Super Rugby pre-season match against the Rebels in Melbourne on Saturday night.
All Blacks, Isaia Toeava and Ali Williams return to the fold with Toeava starting at fullback and Williams in his traditional number five jersey.
Jerome Kaino will captain the side.
