Wolves sack their manager

Wolverhampton Wanderers have sacked their manager Mick McCarthy, a day after their 5-1 loss to local rivals West Bromwich Albion which dropped them into the bottom three of the Premier League.

McCarthy was appointed Wolves manager five and a half years ago, winning promotion to the Premier League in 2009, but he's lost his job following Wolves' fourth successive home defeat in the league.

They've won just one of their last 13 matches in all competitions.

Bookmakers have made former Liverpool boss Rafa Benitez and ex-West Ham United manager Alan Curbishley favourites to replace McCarthy.
