The German Cycling Federation has banned the former Tour de France winner Jan Ullrich from competing in any amateur or public races in the country after the retired star was found guilty last week of blood doping.

Ullrich, the 1997 Tour de France winner, who was also a five-times runner-up, was suspended for two years by the Court of Arbitration for Sport, for blood doping with the help of a Spanish doctor at the heart of a scandal that stretched back to 2006.
