The All Black and part-time boxer Sonny Bill Williams will get his first outing for the Chiefs Friday night after being named to start at second five eighth for their Super Rugby pre-season match against the Hurricanes in Taupo.
Williams slots in between Aaron Cruden and Richard Kahui.
Coach Dave Rennie says Williams has been training and running freely with no injuries and is looking forward to playing.
The Chiefs launch their Super Rugby campaign against the Highlanders at Waikato Stadium on February 25th.
