The world number one Supercross BMX rider Sarah Walker had too much class on her home turf in Cambridge, cleaning up the UCI Oceania Olympic qualifying event on Saturday.
Walker dominated the elite women's competition, winning all three motos and the final.
And the Cambridge International shouldn't have been a cakewalk for Walker. She had to hold off a more than useful field with the runner-up being the Australian Lauren Reynolds, who was third behind Walker at last year's Olympic test event in London.
Cambridge athletes had a double success with BikeNZ High Performance rider Kurt James taking out the final ahead of fellow elite rider Kurt Pickard of Tauranga.
Pickard had dominated with three wins in the qualifying heats but clipped a jump late in the final as James forced his way through to win from New Plymouth's Matt Cameron and Gisborne's Nic Fox with Pickard back in fourth.
Kaiapoi's Trent Jones won the junior elite final.
There is a second event tomorrow, also carrying Olympic qualifying points.
