Football Federation Australia say they won't rush any decision over the future of the troubled A-League club Gold Coast United but admit they must re-evaluate it in the wake of owner Clive Palmer's extraordinary outburst.
The FFA's chief executive Ben Buckley says their priority is to maintain the integrity of this season's competition, indicating the need for last-placed United to play it out.
At a media conference in Sydney Buckley again condemned comments made by Gold Coast's billionaire owner in a Brisbane newspaper in which he reportedly labelled his own club "insignificant", and the sport a "hopeless game."
But Palmer claims his comments were taken out of context, explaining that he was unhappy about the game's administration, rather than the game itself.
