Deans confident Australia will break Bledisloe drought

The Wallabies coach Robbie Deans says Australia's decade-long Bledisloe cup rugby drought is a ridiculous statistic and one he wants to change this year.

The Wallabies ended a lengthy Tri Nations famine in 2011, but couldn't stop New Zealand from again claiming trans-Tasman rugby bragging rights, losing two of their three tussles.

Deans says his side are desperate to knock the New Zealanders off their Bledisloe throne, but concedes the All Blacks will play with more confidence this year having thrown the World Cup monkey off their backs.

The former Crusaders mentor, who is embarking upon his fifth season as Wallabies coach, has plenty to occupy him before taking on New Zealand, South Africa and Argentina in the inaugural four-nation Rugby Championship.

A hectic start to the international season looms in June, with four inbound Tests in under three weeks.
