Kiwi hooker cops yet another ban

6:07 am on 22 February 2012

Fresh from returning after a two-match suspension, Issac Luke will miss South Sydney's NRL season opener after accepting a one-game ban for a contrary conduct charge.

The serial-offending New Zealand hooker was banned for making contact with the referee Jason Robinson during the Rabbitohs' 18-12 loss to St George in last Saturday's Charity Shield at ANZ Stadium.

It was Luke's first game back for Souths following his suspension for twisting the leg of the England halfback - his cousin Rangi Chase - during a Four Nations test in Hull last November.

The veteran Brisbane prop Petero Civoniceva will also miss the start of the new campaign against Parramatta after pleading guilty to a grade three careless tackle charge from a trial match at the weekend.
