New generation of first fives out to prove their worth

9:29 am on 22 February 2012

The future of New Zealand first fives could well be on display when the Crusaders take on the Blues in the Super Rugby opener at Eden Park on Friday night.

Tyler Bleyendaal and Tom Taylor are contenders to replace the injured Dan Carter in the Crusaders lineup, while Gareth Anscombe will be in the Blues mix.

Crusaders coach Todd Blackadder says he's likely to opt for Bleyendaal this week, but for both of his guys its a great chance to replace the best number ten in the game.

The Blues and Crusaders teams for Friday night's clash will be named later today.
